Ramblings of a mad potter

I began playing in mud as a small child. No wonder I still do. I guess if one looks at the talents of a child, it wouldn’t be too hard to guess what that child will become or choose as a life’s career.

I have been a potter/artist for over 25 years now. It is still my passion and I am grateful that I still love making and decoration pottery. In my spare time, if there ever is any, I enjoy writing and painting. I was fortunate enough to marry a man who not only supported me emotionally with my chosen career, but embraced it as well. At one point in our lives we supported ourselves solely with the making and selling of pottery. We are working towards this same relationship.

Life changes and moves us. I was told that if one is not moving things around one is not living. In some respect this is true. Jeff and I have had many changes and rearranging. From raising a beautiful daughter, who I might say is very independent and creative, to our most recent adventure of building a new home and studio. It is so very nice to have a partner I can work with. We, of course, had bumps in the road. Life wouldn’t be what it is without those. It is so easy to look at someone and think things were just handed to them. That makes us feel better, but each and every one of us has had their trails.

Enough, I am off the subject. Like I mentioned I have been a professional potter for over 25 years. I sell to galleries, collectors, small gift shops, at juried art and craft fairs and through my web site. My studio is open to the public and I welcome visitors. Here they can stumble upon a variety of steps in the process of pottery making. The kiln may be in the process of loading or unloading. I may be on the potter’s wheel in the mist of making bowls or vases. I may be decorating pottery. I work during the week and on weekends. I would suggest calling as I may be out in my kayak!!!

Litchfield is our new and hopefully life long location. We moved here in summer of 2007 and built the studio in the fall/winter of 2007/2008. We will be pottery making in the new studio, using our gas kiln again, by Feb. of 2008. I hope you will stop by to visit.
